DJ Von Dutch, originally from Dallas, Texas, has called Charlotte, North Carolina home since his teenage years. A 2007 graduate of Vance High School, he went on to earn his degree from Winston-Salem State University in 2012. His passion for music began in 2005 when, with the support of his father, he received his first set of turntables and vinyl records. Starting with parties for his high school peers, DJ Von Dutch quickly grew his reputation behind the 1’s & 2’s.
As a freshman at Winston-Salem State, he earned the opportunity to DJ for fellow students, capturing the energy of the campus and eventually securing a contract with the University. His talent and presence soon expanded beyond WSSU, leading to contracts with Wake Forest University and Salem College in the Winston-Salem area.
After graduation, DJ Von Dutch transitioned into DJ’ing full-time, building a career defined by versatility and demand. He has since provided the soundtrack for a wide range of events—including corporate functions, weddings, concerts, and private celebrations—solidifying his reputation as a dynamic and sought-after DJ.
In 2023, DJ Von Dutch launched Mix Masters Academy, a nonprofit DJ school designed to inspire and equip teens with hands-on training, mentorship, and opportunities in the art of DJ’ing. Through this initiative, he continues to give back to the community and open doors for the next generation of talent.
His stage name, “DJ Von Dutch,” was born naturally—derived from his first name, Von, and the nickname “Dutch” given by peers in reference to the popular clothing brand.
