Boxes of old photographs show Edan Aldridge with guitars and mandolins in his hands since before he can remember, but it wasn’t until the last few years that he really brought his music to the surface, writing songs and gigging full time: playing solo shows, fronting his own band, performing in duo with Heidi Sidelinker or as a member of the larger outfit, Heidi and the River Down. Humble and quiet by nature, he is a force of nature with his guitar playing and vocals, and his songwriting is mature well beyond his years, carrying echoes of music traditions that stretch decades into the past, dating well before even those old photographs, yet it is also current and urgent.
