Greg Knight has built his career from nearly every side of the music industry: onstage, backstage, on the road, and behind the stories that shape how artists are understood. That panoramic experience now informs his work as a publicist, artist manager, and strategic advisor to artists navigating sustained, long-term growth.
A Connecticut native, Greg began performing as a bassist in 2008 before gaining momentum as a DJ and producer the following year. He went on to perform in support of artists including Kendrick Lamar, Juicy J, Machine Gun Kelly, and Waka Flocka Flame. Greg later moved behind the scenes, booking and managing local artists and providing road support for touring acts. That experience revealed a recurring problem: emerging artists were often so consumed by the demands of touring that they neglected one of their most valuable assets—their own story.
Guided by the principle “always control your own narrative,” Greg combined his industry experience with a B.A. in English Literature from the University of Connecticut and turned his attention to publicity. In 2015, he began working with ascendant indie-groove band Goose, helping guide the band’s communications throughout its rise to national prominence.
Greg’s work extends far beyond traditional publicity. As a strategic advisor, he develops comprehensive, interconnected strategies spanning positioning, storytelling, media relations, touring markets, audience development, and long-term career planning. His approach helps artists build momentum deliberately—from their hometowns and regional markets to national stages and international audiences. Today, his clients are thriving globally, earning major media coverage, touring internationally, and cultivating durable fan bases around the world.
His current publicity roster includes Goose, Mountain Grass Unit, Pigeons Playing Ping Pong, Northlands Music & Arts Festival, and The Ramble Festival. He previously represented the legendary George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic. Greg and his team are also launching Upright Artist Group, a management company whose first client, Chicago funk powerhouse Hot Like Mars, is touring nationwide.
Greg’s clients have been featured in Rolling Stone, GQ, The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Atlantic, and Billboard, with television appearances on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, CBS Saturday Morning, and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
Named “the most influential man in the CT music scene” by 95.9 The Fox early in his career, Greg was more recently profiled by Relix for “serving the sound and shaping the scene.” He brings an unusually broad perspective to his work, shaped by previous roles as a sixth-grade teacher, music school manager, and director of Turnaround Arts: New York City, a Kennedy Center initiative that uses the arts as a catalyst for school transformation.
Greg has also served on the boards of Twiddle’s White Light Foundation, Levitt Pavilion, and Change for Kids. A proud husband and father of two young girls, he uses what little time he has left to sharpen his skills as a proficient multi-instrumentalist.
