Kara Leinfelder brings 24 years of nonprofit experience to the new NC Music Office. She has an extensive background in leadership, nonprofit management, marketing and communications, production, and fundraising. Starting in the nonprofit sector after graduating from North Carolina State University, she quickly learned the art of juggling multiple tasks at once while wearing many hats!
Her work as the Creative Director for the NC Museum of History, where she focused on branding, concert curation and programming, community outreach, and audience development brought her to the NC Music Office recently to continue to focus on the state’s greatest asset—music.
She has a deep appreciation and connection to music with a history in performing arts, both as a participant and a supporter. She grew up in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains surrounded by music from her trumpet-playing father and banjo and fiddle playing uncles and cousins. While she has moved away several times, she has always felt a strong pull to this land and the music that is so uniquely North Carolina’s.
Kara is also a poet, designer/brand developer, and mother to two exceptional boys.
