Rob is the owner of Catalyst Recording (est.1993) Charlotte’s longest-running recording studio, where he has produced or engineered over 1000 projects across nearly every genre of music, either in-studio or on-location, winning Emmy Awards and numerous accolades along the way. Rob is also a reviewer/writer for Mix Magazine, after starting with Pro Audio Review in the 00’s and later Pro Sound News.
Rob is an audio jack-of-all-trades who dabbles in virtually every type of audio work … from Fortune-500 karaoke production in the 90’s, live sound, broadcast TV, pro sports broadcast and front-of-house, webcasts/streams, audio education, forensic audio, audio restoration, podcasts, audiobooks, live theatre, commercials, film scoring and mastering (for streaming, CD’s, vinyl).
Rob got his start as a musician, has fronted and supported in many bands and he continues to this day with countless overdubs, ghost tracks and features for his studio clients. Rob is multi-instrumentalist (mostly bass, guitar, ebow, synths and percussion), singer, songwriter, composer for hire, arranger … and his very favorite thing of all, re-mixer where he takes perfectly good songs and reinvents them in unusual ways.
