Working as an independent curator and promoter of music festivals since 2003, Sam Calhoun has been with FloydFest & Across-the-Way Productions, Inc. full-time since 2014, serving as Chief Operating Officer and, more recently, as Co-Owner of the festival and company, which creates, designs and executes one-of-a-kind live events, along with its nonprofit arm, Blue Cow Arts Foundation, Inc. A native of Roanoke, Va., Calhoun left the Star City for many years, with stints as an Actor in New York City and as a journalist, editor and publisher in Boone, N.C.
Retuning home to accept his ‘dream job’ at the helm of FloydFest, Calhoun also officiates weddings, serves as an elected official for the Town of Boones Mill, and is a member of Virginia’s US National Toboggan Championship racing team, US Red Velvet Racing. Wearing myriad hats in the live-music industry, his specialties include partnerships, marketing, branding, logistics, public speaking, customer service and public relations.
