Sean Peace

President and Founder, SongVest

As Founder and CEO of SongVest, Sean Peace is a visionary in the music business and successful entrepreneur who drew from his strong background in tech and finance to create the company. After a chance encounter with a songwriter friend about to sell their publishing catalog, Peace thought fans might pay more than investors to own music rights, creating the original SongVest in 2007 to sell royalties as memorabilia – before crowdfunding, catalog sales or royalty advances ever existed. As part of SongVest’s mission, Peace convinced a skeptical music industry to allow artists and songwriters to sell a percentage of their song royalties. In 2011, he went on to found Royalty Exchange, the first online market to buy and sell music royalties through auction, from May 2011 until he sold it in December 2015. In 2020, his long-term vision for SongVest became realized, as he began developing a ground-breaking new model selling “fractional shares” (under the brand SongShares) where fans can invest and get paid royalties by “owning” shares in individual songs. In October 2021, the company had the first public securities offering of music royalties with qualification by the SEC utilizing Reg A+.
